Welcome to the Fish (and shrimp) available page!

Updated February 4, 2010

I set up a new site that makes it easier for purchasing. For now you can either purchase from the other site or from this site. The other site is below. Try it out and let me know which you like better!

Shipping is $35 flat rate for Fedex Overnight no matter how many fish and frogs you buy. I do not ship outside the continental U.S. If you are near Columbus Ohio you can pick up at my house (by appointment only).

All fish and frogs for sale are captive born in my home!

I sell the extra plants from my aquariums and terrariums here.

Availablility
Corydoras sp. "Orange Laser". I have about 20 of these left. As with everything on my site, they were born and raised in my own home. They are about half grown at 3/4".

Available, $12 each

Quantity:

Crystal red shrimp, grade A. These are great in the aquarium and unlike Amano shrimp, these breed in your tank. Black is the wild color and red is a recessive mutation. More pics and info here. Keep these between 70-76°F and feed them lots of pretty much any kind of fish food.

REDs are sold out. I will have thousands more in march. (UPDATE! I made these available on the other site!)

BLACK available!
$6 each
$4 each for 10 or more

Quantity:

Sewellia lineolata. These loaches are really cool! Unlike most hillstream loaches they do not need cold water. I keep them in room temp water with just a sponge filter and they breed like crazy! More pics and info here.

Available, $10 each

Quantity:

Hypancistrus zebra, L-046. These are from the Rio Xingu. Unfortunately, at the end of 2004 Brazil removed this species from their "positive list" of what is allowed to be exported. You'd think this would be good news for the species, but then they announced a new dam on their river. Obviously, everybody that keeps these needs to try to breed them. I have two wild pairs that breed regularly. I have also held back 50 babies from these two pairs to make new unrelated pairs in the future. Be sure to keep these warm, between 83 and 86°F. Also, they are meat eaters, not algae eaters, so feed them frozen brine shrimp and other carnivore fish foods.

more pics and info here.

I've closed the waiting list because it is forever long. However, if you're willing to pick the fish up in person, I'll still add you to the list. I sell them at 6 months old. They are not sexable at this age. The price varies over time but is at least $200 each.

Hypancistrus sp., L-201. Ingo Seidel looked at these while he was visiting my house and said they are not H. contradens or H. inspector, but are L-201 that do not have a species name yet. These are from the upper Rio Orinoco and Negro. Just like the zebra plecos, these are meat eaters, not algae eaters. Keep these at 80-84°F. Mine are breeding constantly. A few more pics here.

I have two pairs of these so I always send offspring from both pairs (for example, if you order 6, I send three from each pair).

Fry from two different pairs available, $20 each

Quantity:

Ancistrus sp."Pucallpa". These are a nice looking bristlenose out of Peru. Very active, very healthy. A great algae eater for any tank. I raise these just to sprinkle the young ones into all my tanks. These can be kept in a wide range of conditions and are very tough.

Fry are sold out.

Sexed pairs are available, $30 per pair.

Quantity:

Long fin albino bristlenose.

Available, $10 each

My friend Stephan breeds many more fish than I do and has started a website called swisstropicals.com. Check it out, he has an amazing number of fish he is raising. He took me on a fish tour in Germany in May 2006. You can see a journal of the trip here.

Feel free to use pictures from this site as long as they are not altered and the brianstropicals.com logo is left in place. Thanks!
Please inquire if you would like unmarked hi-resolution photos for commercial use.
